‘VPN kounsa use krna hai’ – Fans react as broadcasters stream WTC finals between India and Australia for free in some countries

The Indian Cricket Team is facing Australia in the Final of the World Test Championship cycle 2021-23 at the iconic The Oval ground in London. India won the toss and opted to bowl first considering the overcast conditions and pitch. Meanwhile, fans noticed an unusual thing broadcasters started free streaming of WTC finals in some selected countries.

Fans in the Indian subcontinent need to pay to watch the game while in some countries it was broadcasted for free on YouTube channel. This created outrage among fans as they started slamming the broadcasters. However, after a few minutes, the stream ended and no official words were released by broadcasters. Notably, in India, Star Sports, DD Sports and Hotstar are broadcasting and streaming the game.

Meanwhile, India started well in the first hour of the game as Mohammad Siraj dismissed in-form Usman Khawaja for a ten-ball duck. However, opener David Warner, along with Marnus Labuschange, added 40 runs for the second wicket as Australia were 42-1 at drinks after the first hour of the game. Apart from Siraj, Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav also bowled for India in the first hour considering the movement from the pitch.

India dropped Ravichandran Ashwin from the playing XI

Meanwhile, in a shocking decision, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma dropped Ravichandran Ashwin from the playing XI of the prestigious game. Allrounder Ravindra Jadeja was picked over him as Indian team management decided to go without the world’s no.1 Test bowler. “We are going to bowl. Just the conditions and also the weather being overcast. I don’t think the pitch will change too much. You have to play good cricket and come out on top. Four seamers and one spinner. The spinner is Jadeja,” Rohit said at the toss.

“It’s always tough (to leave Ashwin), he’s been a match-winner for us over the course of so many years. But you got to do the things that are needed for the team and eventually, we came up with that decision. He (Rahane) brings a lot of experience, he’s played 80-odd Test matches and he’s done well for the team. He’s been out for a while but I don’t think the experience that he has can change all of that,” he added.
