‘Miyan Magic’ – Fans react as Mohammed Siraj completes 50 wickets in Test Cricket

Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj completed 50 wickets in Test cricket during the ongoing World Test Championship final against Australia. The 29-year-old scalped 4 wickets as India bowled Australia out for 469 runs in the first innings of the Test match.

Siraj gave the first breakthrough to India on Day 1 after dismissing Usman Khawaja for a duck at the score of 2 runs in 3.4 overs. After that, David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne tried to take the innings further with a 69-run partnership for the second wicket. After the partnership was broken, it was looking like that India could have the upper hand on Australia on Day 1 of the Test match. However, the partnership between Steve Smith and Travis Head spoiled India’s plans and didn’t let any wicket fall for the rest of the day.

On Day 2, Siraj was once again the first bowler to get India a breakthrough as he got the big wicket of Travis Head, who got out after scoring 163 runs off 174 balls. A few overs later, Smith also went back to the pavilion after scoring his 31st Test hundred as he scored 121 runs off 268 balls. After that, Siraj went on to take wickets of tailenders like the skipper Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon as Australia finished on 468 runs in their first innings. Apart from Siraj, Mohammed Shami and Shardul Thakur scalped 2-2 wickets each, while Ravindra Jadeja put 1 in his bag.

Siraj now has 51 wickets in 19 Test matches he played so far for India at an average of 30.96. He also had a great outing in England where he scalped 22 wickets from just 6 matches at an economy of 31.90.

Coming to bat in the second innings of the match, India has already lost 3 wickets as the skipper Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Cheteshwar Pujara are back in the pavilion at the score of 30 runs under seven overs. Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara are currently at the crease taking Indian innings further.
