Batting woes continues for the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma after he once again failed to score big in the World Test Championship final against Australia at the Oval, England. The opening batter could only manage to score 15 runs off 26 balls before he got trapped in front of the stumps by the Australian skipper Pat Cummins. Rohit looked in good touch after he hit Mitchell Starc for a splendid boundary in the very first over of the innings.

However, he couldn’t capitalize on the opportunity to score big and was the first Indian batter to lost his wicket. The Indian batter has been struggling with the form for the past few weeks ans is losing his wicket after getting a good start. Notably, in the last Test he played at Oval, Rohit played a splendid knock of 127 runs that helped India to clinch a 157-run victory against England.

Talking about the match, India didn’t had a great start with the bat in the second innings in reply to Australia’s 469 runs in the first innings. After being asked to bat first, the Aussies have been put in a commendable with the centuries by Travis Head and Steve Smith.

Head became the first batter to score a ton in the WTC final as he got out after scoring 163 runs off 174 balls. While Smith scored his 31st Test Hundred as he got out after scoring 121 runs off 268 balls. Mohammed Siraj took 4 wickets for India, while Mohammed Shami and Shardul Thakur shared 2-2 wickets, and Ravindra Jadeja put 1 in his bag.

India on backfoot after Day 2 of WTC Final

Coming to bat in the second, India got the first blow in the form of Rohit at the score of 30 in six overs. A few deliveries later, Scott Boland destroyed Shubman Gill’s stumps while he was batting on 13 runs off 15 balls. Cheteshwar Pujara was also dismissed in same manner as Gill by Cameron Green after scoring 14 off 25 in the 14th over.

A few overs later, Virat Kohli got out after giving catch to Smith on the slips on the delivery of Mitchell Starc. The 34-year-old got out after scoring 14 runs off 31 balls. After that, Ajinkya Rahane and Ravindra Jadeja took the innings further and added 71 runs for the fifth wicket.

Jadeja got out after scoring 48 runs off 51 balls hitting seven four and a maximum. Rahane is still at the crease while batting at 29 runs off 71 balls along with KS Bharat. India have scored 151 runs for the loss of 5 wickets at the end of day 2, with 318 runs behind Australia’s total.
