‘He has been giving chances to youngsters the way MS Dhoni..’ – Suresh Raina hails Rohit Sharma’s leadership
Former India cricketer Suresh Raina heaped praise on Rohit Sharma after he guided his side to win the Test series against England in Ranchi and called him the next MS Dhoni. Notably, the former India skipper MS Dhoni has been known as one of the most successful captains in Indian history, having guided his side to win all three major titles under his leadership. However, the Men in Blue are still seeking their first win since the 2013 Champions Trophy.
However, Suresh Raina feels that the 36-year-old skipper has been following MS Dhoni’s direction by giving a lot of opportunities to youngsters to nurture them under his leadership. The former all-rounder talks about how MS Dhoni learned things from Sourav Ganguly and how Rohit Sharma has learned things from MS Dhoni in his career.
“He is the next MS Dhoni. Rohit has done well. He has been giving a lot of chances to youngsters the way MS Dhoni did. I played a lot of cricket under MS Dhoni. Sourav Ganguly supported his team a lot. Then MS Dhoni came and led from the front. Rohit is going in the right direction. He is a brilliant captain,” Suresh Raina said.
Rohit Sharma has been managing that well: Suresh Raina
Suresh Raina feels that India’s captain is amazing with his planning and handles the pressure well in the game. Moreover, the middle-order batter talks about how he is using his tactical skills to give chances to spinners and pacers in the ongoing Test series against England.
“Rohit has been amazing with his planning. He has been handling the pressure and players well. The way he is rotating the players is something I have never seen in the last couple of years. Whenever the fast bowlers came in the last couple of years, we have seen injuries. But Rohit has been managing that well. Being a captain is not easy, especially when you are playing in India. Earlier, we used to have one fast bowler and 3-4 spinners. Now, he is bringing two fast bowlers,” he added further.
