‘Chalo mtlb entertainment ki full guarantee’ – Fans react as England skipper Ben Stokes says that hosts will not tone down ‘Bazball’ approach
World Test Championship winner Australia is set to face England in five-match Test series from June 16 in Birmingham. Ahead of the prestigious series, England skipper Ben Stokes said that hosts will continue their attacking approach in the upcoming series. He also said that it has benefitted England and they will not tone it down.
“We know the threat that Australia poses, no matter who they are playing against, they are a very good team but we’ve found something that works and has been successful. That doesn’t change with the opposition”, says Stokes to BBC in a post-match special. “Nothing is going to change because we’ve had unbelievable success with it. If we were to change anything from the last 12 months because we find ourselves in an Ashes series, then anything from the last 12 months will have been completely pointless,” Stokes added.
Notably, in the last 18 months, England skipper Ben Stokes and coach Brendon McCullum have introduced a bold attitude to test cricket, with England winning 11 of their last 13 matches under their leadership. However, the team failed to qualify for the finals of the World Test Championship 2023 and will be keen to dominate the upcoming cycle.
“Australia will win five-nil”, Glen McGrath makes bold prediction
Ahead of the prestigious series former Australia pacer Glen McGrath makes a bold prediction about the result of the Ashes 2023. McGrath believes that the Australian team under the leadership of Pat Cummins will clinch the series by a 5-0 margin. He says, “I’ve been impressed with the way England have been playing, but this Australian team is different with a great bowling attack and quality batters. It’s going to be an incredible contest. The first Test is massively important. I can see every Test going down to the wire, with Australia just winning… every game. I’m sure people want me to say 5-0, so I will not disappoint them.”
Former England skipper Alastair Cook predicts 3-1 in favour of England. He says, “Stuart Broad thinks it will be 3-2 – that it will go to The Oval 2-2 and we’ll win there. I think there will be a bit of weather at some stage, so that takes one of the equations for the draw. England’s bowlers need to stay fit. I’m excited to see how Australia confront Bazball because there are so many unanswered questions.”
Here is how fans react to Ben Stokes’ comments:
It might come off once every 3 or 4 innings, but you have to bat through 10 in an Ashes Series… you can't win a series like that. Time will tell…
