Ravindra Jadeja shares two-word Tweet on occasion of India’s 10th anniversary of 2013 Champions Trophy triumph
It’s been 10 years since India won the last major international trophy. Under the leadership of MS Dhoni, India won the Champions Trophy on 23rd June 2013 after defeating England in the final at Edgbaston in Birmingham. However, on the same day in 2021, India lost the World Test Championship final against New Zealand in Southhampton.
India was very dominant in the tournament as they didn’t lose a single game and won another international trophy just two years after winning the World Cup in 2011. With this, Dhoni also became the only captain to win all the major trophies in international cricket. Star Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja took to social media to remember India’s Champions Trophy triumph.
The 34-year-old uploaded a picture on his social media where he can be seen holding individual trophies after the final. He shared a picture with the caption, “GOLDEN BOY #missioncompleted.” Out of those two awards, one was for the Player of the Match as he had 35 runs off 29 balls that helped India to post a total of 129 runs in a big final. While the other award was the Golden Ball for picking the most wickets in the tournament. The leg spinner scalped 12 wickets in five matches at an average of 12.83.
India won a thriller in the big final against England
Talking about the match, India posted a total of 129 for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs in a rain-affected final. Virat Kohli top-scored with 43 runs off 31 balls. In reply, England also kept losing wickets at regular intervals and the match went down to the last ball of the last over where the hosts needed 6 runs to win.
Ravichandran Ashwin bowled a delivery that was missed by James Treadwell and the keeper Dhoni. However, it didn’t affect them as India won a thriller by 5 runs. After that, India has performed well in the upcoming international tournaments but hasn’t been able to cross the winning line. India always enters the tournament as favourites but ends up losing in a knockout game.
