Irfan Pathan gives interesting advice to India cricket team management ahead of West Indies tour
Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan shared his suggestion for the Indian cricket team management after they announced the squads for Tests and ODIs for the upcoming tour to West Indies. He believes that the wicketkeeper batter Sanju Samson should be given a long run in the ODI squad with Rishabh Pant out of action due to his recovery after a major car accident in December 2022.
Samson has been included in India’s ODI squad and has a great opportunity to cement his place in the Indian team ahead of the 2023 ODI World Cup in India. The two-time World Champion said that Samson has excellent spin-playing abilities and he can prove to be a “valuable addition” against West Indies.
“Given Pant’s ongoing recovery, it’s time to give Sanju Samson an extended opportunity in one day cricket. With his skills as a proficient middle-order wicketkeeper-batsman and excellent spin-playing abilities, he could prove to be a valuable addition. #INDvWI,” the former cricketer wrote on his Twitter.
Cheteshwar Pujara misses out on the Indian Test squad
Veteran batter Cheteshwar Pujara has been ruled out of the Test squad after batting failure in the World Test Championship against Australia. The 35-year-old has been out of form and has been consistently failing to score big for India in the longest format. Meanwhile, young batters like Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad have been included in the Test squad and could provide an option to replace Pujara at number 3. Notably, India is scheduled to play, two Tests, three ODIs, and five T20Is against the hosts starting on July 12th.
