‘He is my favourite’- Mohmmad Amir picks his top 3 current favourite batters and bowlers
Former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir has named his three favourite batters and bowlers in the world right now. Many people were taken aback when he chose two Indian players as his top batters, despite the fact that no Indian bowler had wowed him. Amir went on to name Virat Kohli and Babar Azam as his favourite players.
Apart from T20s, he stated that the two greats had impressed him in ODIs and the longest version of the game. Notably, both of these are currently the leading batters in world cricket and have won matches for their respective teams. Shubman Gill, the Prince of Indian cricket, has impressed him in addition to Virat Kohli and Babar Azam.
Speaking during a Q&A session on his YouTube channel, he said, “Virat [Kohli], Babar is my favourite apart from T20s. He is my favourite in Tests and ODIs. Finally, Shubman Gill, as I feel he will be the next big thing for India in future if he maintains his current form.”
Apart from the three batsmen, the former PAK pacer picks his favourite pacers, Trent Boult, Mitchell Starc and Naseem Shah were also on his list. He stated, “[Trent] Boult, he is number one for me, then Naseem Shah. These are bowlers, who I feel are complete bowlers and can play all formats. And third would be Mitchell Starc.”
India to tour West Indies for their next assignment
Mohammad Amir believes Pakistan would be among the best teams in the World Cup because they cannot be written out under Asian circumstances. The Indian cricket squad will travel to the West Indies next month. Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar has questioned the selection committee’s decision to choose Ajinkya Rahane as vice-captain of the Test team for the forthcoming West Indies trip.
While Rohit Sharma will lead the squad in all forms, Rahane’s selection as vice-captain has caused some consternation. Rahane was recalled to the team for the World Test Championship (WTC) Final against Australia, and he was India’s outstanding performer with the bat. The World Cup 2023 schedule has been announced and India will face Pakistan on 15th October in Ahmedabad.
