‘Naa dare, Naa gym kare, Cricket me Football khilade jab mann kre’ – Fans wish Trent Boult on his 34th birthday
It is the 34th birthday of the Kiwi pacer Trent Boult. The Rotorua-born pacer is considered one of the greatest pacers ever produced by New Zealand. The left-arm quick bowler is an extremely dangerous bowler with the new ball. The ball moving away from the left-handers is the stock delivery of the former world number one ODI bowler.
Trent Boult is one of the only four bowlers to have claimed over 300 wickets in Test cricket for New Zealand. In 78 Test matches, Boult has 317 wickets at an average of 27.5, at a bowling strike rate of 54.94, including 10 five-wicket hauls. In One Day Internationals, Boult is considered to be arguably the best bowler for New Zealand.
In ODIs, Boult has played 99 ODIs and claimed 187 wickets at an average of 23.98, at a strike rate of 29.16, at an economy of 4.93, including five fifers. In T20Is, Boult has 74 wickets in 55 matches at an average of 22.26, at a strike rate of 16.99, at an economy of 7.86, including two 4-wicket hauls. The Kiwi pacer is exceptional with the new ball, particularly in Limited Overs cricket.
The man of big tournaments
Trent Boult performed extremely well in the 2015 ODI World Cup. It was the tournament where New Zealand entered the maiden finals of an ODI World Cup, and he played a big role in New Zealand’s success in the tournament. Boult claimed 22 wickets in 9 matches at an average of 16.86, a strike rate of 23.1, and an economy of 4.36. The left-arm pacer was the joint-highest wicket-taker of the tournament.
In the 2021 T20 World Cup, Boult helped New Zealand to enter the finals of the tournament for the first time in their history. Even in the final, Boult bowled a sensational spell of 2/18 despite ending up in a losing cause. In 7 matches, Boult claimed 13 wickets at an average of just 13.30, at a strike rate of only 12.7, at an economy of 6.25.
