Sar Indian leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal celebrated his 33rd birthday on Sunday. The spinner from Haryana has been one of the mainstays in Indian limited-overs teams for a long time. From 2016 to 2022, Chahal was a regular in the team in both One Day Internationals and T20 Internationals. With his consistent performances, Chahal has won the hearts of many fans over the years.

The 33-year-old is mostly a leg spinner, who turns the ball mostly away from the right-handers. But Chahal also has a deadly googly, which does not turn much. Along with a stick delivery and a magical googly, Chahal can also bowl flippers and sliders, which are very handy. The spinner can vary its lengths and variations at will.

Contributions to Indian Team and IPL

Chahal has played 72 ODIs and 75 T20Is for India. In ODIs, Chahal has claimed 121 wickets at a bowling average of 27.13, a bowling strike rate of 30.9, at an economy of 5.17, including four 5-wicket hauls. Chahal has a best figure of 6/42 in ODIs. In the shortest format of the game, Chahal has 91 wickets at a bowling average of 24.68, a bowling strike rate of 18.2, at an economy of 8.14, including four 4-wicket hauls. Chahal has a best figure of 6/25 in T20Is.

Interestingly, Chahal has a 6-wicket haul in both the formats he has played. Both performances came for India in the decider of the series. In 2017, Chahal picked a 6-fer in T20Is against England in Bengaluru to win the match and series for India. In 2019, Chahal picked a 6-fer in ODIs against Australia in Melbourne to win the match and series for India. It was the first bilateral ODI series win for India against Australia on Australian soil.

Chahal is very consistent in the Indian Premier League. With 187 wickets in 145 matches, the leg spinner is the highest wicket-taker in the history of the league. Chahal averages 21.69 in IPL at a great bowling strike rate of 16.97, at an economy of 7.67.
