‘Goat influence is everywhere’ – Fans react as Ishan Kishan smashes his maiden Test half-century with Rishabh Pant’s bat on Day 4 against West Indies
Indian star batter Ishan Kishan scored his first Test half-century as the young batter scored an unbeaten 52 runs from just 34 balls with a strike rate of 154 during India’s second innings of the second Test match against the West Indies. His knock included four boundaries and two sixes. Notably, the Men in Blue were looking to declare the game early. On top of it, Ishan Kishan helped India score 181 runs during the second inning.
Meanwhile, the left-handed batter had earned his first Test appearance in the first Test against the West Indies; however, the young batter was only able to score one run from 20 balls before India declared their innings. Following that, the 25-year-old cricketer managed to rack up 25 runs in the first innings of the second Test while being moved up in the lineup in the second inning to speed up the scoring, which he did magnificently.
Earlier, India skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and invited the home team to field first. After opting to bat first, the Men in Blue scored 438 runs in their first inning, while restricting the host team to 255 runs. Following that, the Indian team immediately went into action in the second inning. On top of that, Ishan Kishan was batting with Rishabh Pant’s bat. As it turns out, he used Rishabh Pant’s bat with ‘RP17’ written on it. In addition, the wicketkeeper-batsman also struck a huge one-handed six to reach his half-century, like Rishabh Pant does.

On the same note, Ishan Kishan revealed that he had met Rishabh Pant in Bengaluru’s NCA ahead of the West Indies tour. In a video shown by the Indian Cricket Board, the batter spoke openly about the tips he got from Rishabh Pant.
“I was at NCA before coming here. I was practising there, and Rishabh was also there for his rehab. He just got a few points for me; he asked me the bat position and everything. Because we have played together in so many matches, we have been together since Under-19. So, he knows how I play and what my mindset is. So, he just helped me a little bit with my bat position and everything,” Ishan said in a video posted by Indian Cricket Board.
