Cricket Governing Body introduces new courses for their Training and Education Programme

The Cricket Governing Body announced the launch of the Umpire Foundation Certificate on Monday, its first-ever education program for prospective Match Officials. In November 2021, they revealed their Global Growth Strategy, which aims to revolutionise involvement throughout the Cricket Governing Body’s 108 Member nations by giving members access to world-class participation programming.

The entry-level training is intended to expose students to the principles of umpiring so that they will have the knowledge and confidence to officiate games at the club level. In the last year, 9,500 active learners have enrolled in Cricket Governing Body education courses online, encompassing 90 Member countries and increasing the availability of coaching materials, supporting the objective of more players, spectators, and nations enjoying cricket.

What does the new course look like? 

The newly launched program is absolutely free to use and is given fully online via a unique micro-learning method, allowing courses to be finished at any pace and in short, crisp modules whether at home on a computer or on the go via a mobile device. As engagement in global cricket communities grows.

The newest course offers the Cricket Governing Body Training and Education program’s goal is to improve the playing experience in member nations by expanding access to world-class education materials. By enrolling here, aspiring coaches and umpires may enroll in Cricket Governing Body Training and Education courses.

Speaking on the launch of the ICC’s first-ever certified umpire education course, General Manager – Development William Glenwright commented, “The release of the ICC Umpire Foundation Certificate represents a landmark moment in the development of the sport. With better access to education courses than ever before, the ICC continues its commitment to improving the playing experience for participants around the world.”

“This course complements the other resources we have launched over the last two years to drive a better standard of coaches, umpires and curators in member nations.”

Aspiring coaches and umpires can sign up to study the Training and Education courses by registering on their site. Further courses will be introduced in late 2023, including the coaching course level 2.
