Pakistan batter Saud Shakeel creates history as he becomes first batter to achieve a unique feat

The Pakistan cricket team are currently playing a two-match Test series against Sri Lanka which is also their first away series for the World Test Championship (WTC) cycle 2023-25. The visitors already lead the series 1-0 and are certainly eyeing a clean sweep of the series with a win in the second Test match of the series as every Test match is important due to WTC.

After a brilliant display with the ball, the Pakistan batting lineup batted superbly in their first innings to back the outstanding performance from their bowlers on the opening day of the second Test. In the first Test match, Saud Shakeel was the hero with the bat in the opening Test, where he scored an impressive double century as well as he then followed it up with a well-compiled half-century in the second Test as well.

Pakistan Solidify their position in the second Test

In the second Test match, where Shakeel reached the 50-run landmark, he registered his name in the history books as the left-hand batter became the first-ever batter in the history of Test to score 50 plus runs in seven consecutive Tests. So far, in his Test 7 matches that the 27-year-old has played for Pakistan’s national side, the star batter has gone on to score 875 runs at an average of 87.55 with a high score of unbeaten 208.

The prolific left-hand batter has registered scores of 37, 76, 63, 94, 23, 53, 22, 55*, 125*, 32, 208*, 30, and 57 in his Test career so far which is simply phenomenal and any batter would take it given that it is just the start of his career.

After a terrific show with the ball by the Pakistan bowler bundling out the host for 166, the visitors have done a great job with the bat in hand. In reply, to the modest score of 166, the Pakistan team had made a strong statement in their first innings as they have scored 529/5 runs so far on the back of a brilliant double century from Abdullah Shafique who scored 201 runs and an outstanding ton from Agha Salman who is unbeaten on 119 runs.
