‘Inspirational from small town with bigger dreams’ – Fans react as KKR’s explosive batter, Rinku Singh, receives his maiden India call-up for series against Ireland

The Kolkata Knight Riders’ explosive batter Rinku Singh has been called up for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Ireland, owing to his stellar performances in the recently concluded IPL 2023 campaign. The star batter had boosted his team with several spectacular knocks. Notably, the left-handed batter had already been included in the forthcoming Asian Games that will be held in China.

Notably, the one thing that impressed the fans was the five straight sixes that the batter blasted against Gujarat Titans bowler Yash Dayal during the final over, which helped his team secure the match against table toppers. In addition, he had a great time batting for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), emerging as the team’s top scorer.

I don’t want to wake up anytime soon: Rinku Singh

Speaking on the same subject, the 25-year-old batter expressed his happiness and affirmed that this is like a dream for him and he doesn’t want to wake up. In addition, the great batter expressed his feelings after reaching the epitome of the level of having nothing at one time.

“Sapne jaisa hi hai(This is like a dream). I don’t want to wake up anytime soon. It’s an amazing feeling, not easy for me to describe in words. I have reached this level from absolutely nothing. I am an emotional person, and every time I talk to my parents, we end up crying,” Rinku was quoted as saying by Indian Express.

The Aligarh batter further added that he is thankful to his franchise for keeping him even after his poor performances. Moreover, he further went on to say that he performed well in the IPL, which led to great recognition and got rewarded with his maiden call-up.

“No other franchise would have kept me after failing regularly. I would bat five to six hours everyday in the nets and learnt new shots. I think in those three years, I became an all-round batsman. I did well in the IPL, got recognition, and now am rewarded with an India call-up,” he added further.
