ODI World Cup 2023
‘Zarurat pdegi India se harne k bad’ – Fans react to reports of PCB discussing inclusion of psychologist to accompany the team during ODI World Cup 2023
The 2023 Men’s ODI World Cup is all set to take place in the host country, India, commencing from October 5 to November 19. Meanwhile, according to the reports, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has been discussing including a sports psychologist to accompany the Babar Azam-led team with the aim of assisting the team in dealing with the mental challenges and concerns that may arise during the World Cup.
According to sources from Cricket Pakistan, the main reason to include the psychologist is that there is a lack of experience for the Pakistan players in India. Notably, the other teams have played a plethora of IPL matches here, but the Men in Green aren’t allowed due to political tensions between these two countries. In addition, there is a possibility that the players’ stress and anxiety may be raised by their unfamiliar playing conditions, the wide-ranging media coverage, and the extremely high public expectations.
“Serious consideration is being given to appointing a psychologist. He will accompany the squad to the neighboring country and help boost the players’ morale during crucial moments, protecting them from any fears,” quoted by Times of India.
Renowned Pakistani journalist Farid Khan also confirmed the news of hiring psychologists
Meanwhile, speaking on the same subject, renowed Pakistani journalist Farid Khan also confirmed the news of hiring psychologists during the World Cup. Notably, the great writer tweeted from his account and stated that the Men in Green are considering having a psychologist with them in India, which will help them handle the pressure. Moreover, he further shared that during the last time, Pakistan also carried a psychologist with them, which helped them win the bilateral ODI series in 2012 against the home team.
“The Pakistan team is considering hiring a psychologist for the World Cup in India. The psychologist will travel with the team and will help them in absorbing pressure. The last time Pakistan played a bilateral series in India in 2012 they took a psychologist along and won the ODI series. #CWC23,” Khan tweeted.

High time they appoint one.
All major Internal sports team hire services of a sports psychologist but in Pakistan due to shear lack of mental health awareness, it hasn't been done
