‘Emotional moment for the youngster’ – Fans react as Tilak Varma shares his parents’ reaction after India call-up

Indian star batter Tilak Varma produced a fearless performance during the first T20I match against the West Indies, as the batter smashed 39 off 22 balls. Notably, his debut match featured three boundaries and two sixes. However, India lost the match, but the 20-year-old’s performance was hailed by fans and former cricketers, and it is likely that he will keep on playing for India in T20Is in the years to come.

Meanwhile, the promising youngster recently opened up about his feelings when he received an India call-up. The left-handed batter reveals that his family members and coach felt emotional and cried a bit too.

“I got to know about my selection and when I called my family and coach, they were a bit emotional so I didn’t speak for too long. My family did cry a bit and my coach was also emotional. He wanted to buy sweets and give them to the entire academy,” Tilak said this in a video posted by the Indian Cricket Board while having a chat with Ishan Kishan.

Moreover, the Mumbai Indians batter also shared his goals for the West Indies tour. Notably, the star batter said that he wants to focus on his basics. In addition, he also said that he just aims to give his 100% and wants to play his natural game even if he gets out. Meanwhile, Tilak also shared how the head coach, Rahul Dravid, has encouraged him to play his natural game during the match.

“West Indies are a good T20I side and I just want to focus on my basics and do well. I can get a bit nervous at times as it is my first series but I want to give my hundred percent. I have spoken to Rahul sir in the practice session and I have been backed to play my natural game. In that process if I get out, then it’s okay,” he added further.
