Sourav Ganguly comes up with his India squad for ODI World Cup

The Indian Cricket Board’s newly appointed chief selector, Ajit Agarkar, announced the 17-member Asia Cup squad on August 21. The roaster has marked up surprise inclusions as well as notable omissions from the team. In addition, it is reported that the upcoming ODI World squad will be almost identical to the Asia Cup squad.

Meanwhile, speaking on the same subject, former India cricketer turned analyst Sourav Ganguly picked his 15-member squad for the upcoming ODI World Cup. The former India skipper has also included Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul to boost India’s middle order, whereas the former Indian Cricket Board President excluded star pacer Prasidh Krishna, leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, and Mumbai Indians star Tilak Varma from his squad.

Rohit Sharma (captain), Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan (wk.), Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (wk.), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami, Shardul Thakur

Meanwhile, the cricket analyst has clarified that if any of the middle-order batters get injured, there is a place for Tilak Varma in the squad. Moreover, the 51-year-old cricketer also added Yuzvendra Chahal and Prasidh Krishna as backup spinners and pacers. Notably, the legendary cricketer has no place for RR skipper Sanju Samson or RR opener Yashasvi Jaiswal in his squad, despite their great performances.

“If one of the middle-order batters gets unfit, then Tilak Varma. One of the pacers gets unfit then Prasidh Krishna and Yuzvendra Chahal for spinners,” he added further.

Meanwhile, the upcoming Men’s ODI World Cup is all set to take place on October 5 in the host country, India. In addition, the Men in Blue will lock horns against five-time champions Australia on October 8 at Chepauk in Chennai to commence their journey.
