England beat New Zealand by seven wickets in the first T20I on August 30. Earlier, English team captain Jos Buttler won the toss and invited the visitors to bat first. Notably, after being sent to bat, the Kiwis posted 139/9 runs in the given 20 overs. In addition, Glenn Phillips was the highest run scorer for his side, who hammered 41 runs from 38 balls to post a respectable score against the hosts. Notably, Wood and Carse had scalped three wickets each.
Moreover, while chasing, the home team chased down the target with 36 balls to spare. Furthermore, star batter David Malan had scored 54 runs from just 42 balls to reach the target, whereas SRH batter Harry Brook smashed an unbeaten 43 runs with Liam Livingstone to propel the great victory against Tim Southee’s side on Wednesday.
It was a really good performance, delighted: Jos Buttler
Meanwhile, after the great win, England skipper Jos Buttler expressed his happiness. Notably, the right-handed batter was very delighted after the good performance from his side. In addition, the wicketkeeper batsman lauded Carse for his wonderful bowling spells. Moreover, the 32-year-old cricketer also lauded star batter David Malan for his magnificent knocks against the Black Caps. Furthermore, the Taunton-born cricketer heaps praise on Liam Livingstone, Moeen Ali, and Adil Rashid for their fabulous performances.
“It was a really good performance, delighted. I think Allen hit three sixes, but we came back strong after that, it was a brilliant effort from our bowlers. I thought Carse bowled with great skill. He stood up and took his chance. He (Malan) is a class player, and he has been since a long period of time. He has shown great form in 50-over format for us. He (Livingstone) bowled brilliantly, can contribute with the bat, ball and in the field, gold dust in this format. Moeen and Rashid bowled really well too,” Jos Buttler said during post match presentation.
