‘Dc ke liye itna achha kabhi nhi karta’ – Fans react as Mitchell Marsh propels Australia to 8-wicket win against South Africa in 2nd T20I

Australia beat South Africa by 8 wickets during the second T20I on September 1 and clinched the series 2-0 against the home team. Earlier, Australia skipper Mitchell Marsh won the toss and invited the hosts to bat first. Notably, after being sent to bat first, Aiden Markram’s side posted 164/8 in the given 20 overs. Australia’s star bowlers, Seam Abbott and Nathan Ellis, had grabbed three wickets each, while Behrendorff claimed two wickets.

Later, while chasing, the visitors had a great start as their opener, Matt Short, hammered 66 runs from just 30 balls, with Travis Head racking up 18 runs. Notably, as both the openers departed, the skipper took the onus and smashed up 79 runs from 39 balls, featuring eight boundaries and six sixes, to chase down the target with 31 balls to spare.

A series win is hard to come by so we’ll celebrate this: Mitchell Marsh

Meanwhile, after the match, Australia’s T20I skipper Mitchell Marsh expressed his happiness. The great all-rounder felt proud after his side helped him win the series against Markram’s side. Notably, the newly appointed skipper feels the game was set up by the bowlers. The 31-year-old cricketer also heaps praise on star bowler Jason Behrendorff. Moreover, the right-arm bowler is looking forward to the whitewash series in the third T20I, which is slated to take place on September 3.

“Really proud of the boys. In my times, playing in South Africa, a series win is hard to come by so we will celebrate this. This game however was setup by the bowlers. It is obviously tough for the new guys, Spencer had to rest tonight because some of the guys were coming back. It is lovely to have experienced guys like Behrendorff also around in the dressing room. We will certainly be up and about on Sunday, I think it is a day game. Both teams will put on their best,” Mitchell Marsh said during the post-match presentation.
