‘They’re impossible to beat’ – Fans react as Australia beat South Africa by 123 runs in 2nd ODI

Australia beat South Africa by 123 runs and took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the five-match ODI series on September 9 at Mangaung Oval. Earlier, South Africa skipper Temba Bavuma won the toss and invited Mitchell Marsh’s side to bat first. Notably, after being sent to bat first, the visitors posted a huge total of 392/8 in the given 50 overs.

Australia’s star opener, David Warner, smashed 106 runs from 93 balls to give his side a great start. Later, Marnus Labuschagne hammered 124 runs from 99 balls, which helped the guest team reach a massive total. Later, while chasing, the Proteas looked in a good position but couldn’t bat for long and racked up 269 runs before getting dismissed at 41.5 overs.

I will start bowling in India and keep the reverse sweep away: Mitchell Marsh

Meanwhile, Australia stand-in skipper Mitchell Marsh expressed his happiness by calling the game ‘unbelievable.’ The great all-rounder heaped praise on Nathon Ellis by saying he gives 100 per cent during the match. In addition, the right-handed batter also lauded star batters Marnus Labuschagne and David Warner for their magnificent knocks during the play. Moreover, the right-arm pacer reveals that he will start bowling during the India tour. The 31-year-old cricketer feels they can win the series in the next couple of days.

“Unbelievable. Great day for Australia. Really positive thing for the future. Ellis is a great team man and gives his hundred per cent every time he has the ball in hand. A bright prospect and lot of future ahead of him. Though both batters (Warner and Labuschagne) were outstanding, our intent throughout and our execution was as good as it gets. I will start bowling in India and keep the reverse sweep away. We got a chance to win the series, this tour means a lot to us as a young squad. Hopefully, we can do that over the next couple of games,” Mitchell Marsh said during the post-match presentation.
