Is current weather threatening to knock Pakistan out of Asia Cup 2023? Check out possible outcomes:

The rain has once again played spoilsport as the clash between Sri Lanka and Pakistan got delayed in the Asia Cup 2023 on September 14 at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Notably, both teams are waiting to play the game to face Team India on September 17 for the finals. It’s a must-win encounter for both teams. Rohit Sharma and Co. have reached the finals after defeating Sri Lanka and Pakistan in the two matches of the Super Fours of the Asia Cup 2023.

Meanwhile, they will be facing Bangladesh on September 15, but whether they lose or win does not matter for Team India, as they have already marked their way into the finals of the Asia Cup 2023. However, this isn’t the case for Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Notably, the current reports suggest that it is heavily raining in Colombo and that a threat looms. Speaking on the same subject, check out the two outcomes if both teams aim to reach the finals to face India.

India vs. Pakistan or India vs. Sri Lanka in the final of Asia Cup 2023?

Possible Scenario 1: Things look good for the home team, Sri Lanka; if they win the game against Pakistan, they can look to defend their title in the final match. Notably, Dasun Shanaka’s side has played some good cricket in the Asia Cup despite their main players suffering from injuries, and they possess the advantage of home soil. Meanwhile, if Pakistan wins, they will be facing archrival India. However, Sri Lanka has the advantage as they are playing with their full-strength squad, whereas the Pakistan team has marked five notable changes, including the absence of star pacers Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah owing to injuries.

Possible Scenario 2: If rain halts the game today, the home team will automatically qualify for the finals as they have a high net run rate after sustaining a narrow loss against India, whereas the Pakistan team has a poor net run rate owing to their massive loss against the Men in Blue. Notably, there has been no reserve day as well, which boosted Dasun Shanaka’s side’s chances of grabbing a spot in the finals according to the current weather in Colombo.

Meanwhile, the match has been reduced to 45 overs per side. Pakistan skipper Babar Azam won the toss and invited the home team to field first.
