Rohit Sharma and Co. successfully won the Asia Cup 2023 against Sri Lanka on September 17 at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Notably, the Men in Blue will be heading to the ODI World Cup with great confidence after displaying some magnificent performances in the Asia Cup 2023. Following the win, a plethora of former cricketers and experts started backing Team India to win the upcoming ODI World Cup. Meanwhile, 1983 World Cup-winning skipper Kapil Dev feels the home team is ready to win the upcoming marquee event.

The former India cricketer reckons that he cannot say Rohit Sharma’s side is a favourite to win the ODI World Cup 2023. In addition, the legendary cricketer clarified that it would be unfair to the rest of the teams if he called Team India the favourites to win the upcoming big tournament. The former all-rounder encouraged Team India by saying that they should play passionately with enjoyment in the upcoming marquee event set to start with a few days to go.

“We can’t say right now that we are favourites, of course, our team is very good. Heart says something else, mind says no we have to work very hard. I know our team, I don’t know about other teams, so I would say it is unfair for me to give a blank answer. As far as the India team is concerned, it is ready to play and win the championship. They should play passionately, enjoy themselves,” Kapil Dev said as per news agency ANI.

Meanwhile, the 64-year-old renowed cricketer expressed happiness after India clinched the eighth title of the Asia Cup. “What a fantastic game of cricket. As a cricketer, I would like to see a much closer game, but as a player, I feel 30 pe out Karo, aake jeeto,’ he added further.
