ODI World Cup 2023
‘We are very clear what we want’ – Rohit Sharma on Ravichandran Ashwin and Axar Patel debate in India’s ODI World Cup 2023 squad
Team India won the series 2-1 against Australia and is now all set to start the ODI World Cup 2023 campaign on a positive note. Notably, Rohit Sharma and Co. recently won the Asia Cup 2023, which gives them a major boost to enter as the favourites in the ODI World Cup. However, the team management and selectors have yet to decide the final 15-member squad.
Notably, the final squad will be announced on September 28, as that is the last date to submit names. Team India has already announced the squad; however, star all-rounder Axar Patel got injured, and some reports claim that the southpaw will join the squad ahead of the ODI World Cup 2023. Notably, there is a speculation that off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin may get the nod owing to his phenomenal display in the first two ODIs against Australia.
Speaking on the same subject, India’s skipper Rohit Sharma reveals that he has done all the experimentation in the series against Pat Cummins side. The 36-year-old skipper says the side has adjusted to different conditions very well in the last 7-8 matches they have played.
“I’m pretty happy, of course I would like to go all the way along but if I’m hitting like that I’m happy. The last 7-8 ODIs we have played really well, we have been challenged under different conditions and different teams, I thought we responded to that challenge pretty well,” Rohit Sharma said during the post match presentation of the third ODI.
When we talk about the 15 we are very clear what we want: Rohit Sharma
Meanwhile, the Mumbai-born batter reveals that he is very clear about the main 15 he wants for the ODI World Cup 2023 and has no confusion about the same. The stylish right-handed batter has given a narrow hint that one can witness the great all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin in the squad for the ODI World Cup.
“When we talk about the 15 we are very clear what we want. We are not confused; we know where we are headed as a team. It’s a team sport and we want everyone to come and play their part – that’s how we win championships. It’s about looking after the body and try and stay fresh for the next one and half months,” he added further.
