‘Lag gyi panoti’ – Fans react as South African legend AB de Villiers predicts top run-scorers of ODI World Cup 2023

All the teams are gearing up for the ODI World Cup 2023. Notably, the warm-up fixtures have started, and New Zealand and Bangladesh registered a big win against Pakistan and Sri Lanka on September 29. However, the clash between England vs. India and the Netherlands vs. Australia was called off as the rain halted the play.

Notably, Rohit Sharma and Co. are entering as favourites in the ODI World Cup 2023 owing to the magnificent forms that players have. Meanwhile, speaking on the same subject, former South African cricketer AB de Villiers has predicted Indian batters who can be the top leading run scorers for the ODI World Cup 2023.

Former wicket-keeper batter AB de Villiers feels Virat Kohli will be in the top 3 run-getters in the big tournament. However, the right-handed batter feels India’s star opener, Shubman Gill, will be the leading run scorer in the ODI World Cup 2023 owing to his magnificent form. In addition, the former RCB batter says the 24-year-old batter is a great player with fantastic techniques.

Shubman Gill will be the highest run-scorer in the ODI World Cup: AB de Villiers

“Shubman Gill will be the highest run-scorer in the World Cup. He is in great form. I was always going to go with an opening batter—at the very worst, a No. 3 batter. I think Shubman is in such form that it would be silly of me to overlook him. He is a great player and has a fantastic technique,” AB de Villiers said on his YouTube channel.

The legendary cricketer feels the Gujarat Titans opener can put a lot of pressure on the bowlers and make a difference in the upcoming marquee event.

“His style and technique are quite simple and basic, as you would generally say for some of the best players of the world. He can change the gears and put a lot of pressure on the bowlers,” he added further.
