‘Rohit Sharma, watch your pads!’ – Dale Steyn sounds alarm bells for Rohit Sharma vs Shaheen Afridi ahead of ODI World Cup 2023

All cricketing teams are gearing up for the ODI World Cup 2023. Notably, some of the recent performances have seen great in-form batters and bowlers who can really do great damage in the marquee event set to commence in host country India on October 5. However, former South African cricketer Dale Steyn has picked up five bowlers who can decimate the batting lineup of any team.

Talking about his picks, the star seamer has picked five bowlers, namely India’s Mohammed Siraj, South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada, New Zealand’s Trent Boult, England’s Mark Wood, and Pakistan’s Shaheen Afridi, who will be the ones to watch out for and can help their side easily win the matches of the ODI World Cup 2023.

Elaborating on his individual picks, India’s pacer Mohammed Siraj was the one who had scalped six wickets in the final of the Asia Cup 2023 and decimated Sri Lanka’s batting line-up for just 50 runs in 15 overs, which easily helped Rohit Sharma and Co. register victory. Notably, the right-arm pacer is India’s go-to bowler.

Trent Boult is one of the best bowlers in New Zealand. Being one of the left-arm pacers can really trouble the batters on Indian home soil conditions. Notably, the star pacer has great experience with Indian home soil conditions, as he has played in the IPL league for the Mumbai Indians as well as for the Rajasthan Royals.

English bowler Mark Wood is set to be one of the prominent bowlers for his side as well as Jos Buttler’s go-to-go bowler in the ODI World Cup 2023. The defending champions are still favourites to win the tournament in the host country. In addition, Kagiso Rabada also guided their side to a series win over Australia. Notably, Australia won the first two ODIs out of five, but the star pacer made sure his side won the last three matches to win the series over the Aussies ahead of the big tournament.

Pakistan prime bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi was the one who decimated India’s batting line-up during the T20I World Cup 2021 and helped Babar Azam and Co. register a 10-wicket win. Moreover, the 23-year-old pacer also dismantled India’s top-order players during the group stage of the Asia Cup 2023.

In a video uploaded by Apex Cricket Council, Dale Steyn named five fast bowlers who he feels “could do some damage at Cricket World Cup 2023”.

Just after taking the name of Shaheen, Steyn warned the India batter, saying. “Rohit Sharma, watch your pads!”
