WATCH: Fans chant ‘Kohli Kohli’ as Naveen-ul-Haq takes position near boundary against Bangladesh in ODI World Cup 2023

Afghanistan had an awful start as their side suffered a crushing defeat against Bangladesh in their opening game of the ODI World Cup 2023 on October 7 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Stadium. However, fans were seen teasing Afghanistan star cricketer Naveen-ul-Haq and chanting Kohli, Kohli, when he was near the boundary during the ODI World Cup 2023.

Notably, LSG pacer Naveen-ul-Haq and India’s stalwart Virat Kohli have made headlines during IPL 2023. This began after his heated exchange moments with Virat Kohli on May 1 in the clash between LSG and RCB in Lucknow. Following the incident, fans always try to tease the star cricketer whenever he sets to take the field during the play in India.

Meanwhile, the right arm pacer has recently opened up about this incident. The 24-year-old cricketer clarified that he enjoys it when fans tease him during the play. In addition, the young cricketer reveals that it gives him the energy to play well for his side. Moreover, the Kabul-born cricketer also said that it doesn’t affect him at all, as he believes if he performs well, then the same crowd will chant his name.

I like everybody on the ground is chanting Virat Kohli’s name: Naveen-ul-Haq

“I like that everybody on the ground is chanting his name or any other player’s name. It gives me passion to play well for my team. I don’t concentrate on the outside noise. I just focus on my own cricket. It’s not like if the crowd is chanting or anyone is saying something… it doesn’t affect me. On another day, you’ll do a special thing for your team and the same people are going to chant your name,” Naveen-ul-Haq said.

Speaking about the match here, it was the Bangladesh skipper who won the toss and invited Afghanistan to bat first. Notably, after being sent to bat first, their side faltered for just 156 runs. However, Shakib-Al-Hasan easily chased down the target with 92 balls to spare to give his side a great start in the marquee event.
