‘Bahut achha khela bhai’ – Fans react as Team India beat Afghanistan by 8 wickets in ODI World Cup 2023

Team India won their second match of the ODI World Cup 2023 by 8 wickets against Afghanistan on October 11 at Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium in Delhi. Notably, Rohit Sharma and Co. also registered a magnificent win against five-time world champions Australia on October 8 at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Speaking about the game here, it was the Afghanistan side that won the toss and invited the hosts to field first. Notably, after opting to bat first, Afghanistan had a decent start as their openers, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zardan, scored 21 and 22 runs, respectively. Following that, top-order batter Shah had just departed for 16 runs.

Skipper Shahidi stood up for his side as the middle-order batter hammered a magnificent 80 runs from 88 balls and stitched a great stand with Omarzai, who also piled up 62 runs. Later, in the end, Mohammad Nabi and Mujeeb-Ur-Rahman guided their side to post a total of 272/8 in the given 50 overs. Meanwhile, star pacer Jasprit Bumrah took four wickets, and vice-captain Hardik Pandya claimed two wickets. In addition, Shardul Thakur and Kuldeep Yadav also got one wicket each.

However, while chasing, Team India had a solid and wonderful start. India’s skipper Rohit Sharma once again proved why he called Hitman. The 36-year-old skipper hammered a brilliant knock for 131 runs from 84 balls, featuring 16 boundaries and five sixes with a solid strike rate of 156 and securing over 150 runs in partnership with Ishan Kishan. The 25-year-old Ishan Kishan piled up 47 runs in the play.

Later, in the end, India’s stalwart Virat Kohli and the great middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer guided India to win their second game of the ODI World Cup 2023 against Afghanistan on October 11. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma and Co. will be next seen in action against the Men in Green on October 14 at the iconic Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahemdabad.
