‘Dil me laga hain iska re’ – Fans react as Mickey Arthur lashes out with bizarre statements after loss over India in ODI World Cup 2023

The Pakistan team lost their third game of the ODI World Cup 2023 against arch-rivals India by seven wickets on October 14 at the iconic Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad. Notably, the Pakistan team had slipped to fourth place following the loss against Team India. Babar Azam and Co. had won their first two games of the marquee event against the Netherlands and Sri Lanka, respectively.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s team director Mickey Arthur came up with a sharp reaction and lashed out at the Indian Cricket Board and Apex Cricket Council after the loss to Team India. Notably, former South African batsman Mickey Arthur feels that it was not a major tournament, as he wasn’t able to hear any Pakistani songs in the stadium while there were all Indian songs during the game. However, the great cricketer clarified that he was not defending the loss of the Pakistan team against India by making such statements.

“Look, I’d be lying if I said… It didn’t seem like a major event, tonight, to be brutally honest. It seemed like a bilateral series; it seemed like an Indian event. I didn’t hear Dil Dil Pakistan coming through the microphones too often tonight. So yes, that does play a role, but I’m not going to use that as an excuse because for us, it was about living the moment, it was about the next ball and it was about how we were going to combat the Indian, the Indian players tonight,” Mickey Arthur said.

We are really sad that Pakistan’s supporters aren’t here: Mickey Arthur

In addition, the 55-year-old cricketer has denied giving further answers to the media. The Johannesburg-born cricketer was disappointed as there were no Pakistani fans in the cricket stadium; however, he hopes their side gets support from Indian fans as well in the coming matches.

“Look I don’t think I can’t comment on that just yet. I don’t want to get fined. We are really sad that our supporters aren’t here, they would love to be here and I am sure Indian cricket fans would love our supporters here as well,” he added further.
