‘Ab out ho ja bhai’ – Fans react to Daryl Mitchell’s century vs India in ODI World Cup 2023 game

New Zealand and India locked horns in their respective 5th game of the ODI World Cup 2023 campaign. Daryl Mitchell was the star of the afternoon with a brilliant century to give the Kiwis the much-needed advantage.

Coming into the game both the teams had played four games each and won all of them. The winner of the game on Sunday in Dharamshala would take one step closer to the semi-final stages of the tournament.

India made two changes to their team as they won the toss and bowled first. Mohammad Shami and Suryakumar Yadav came in to replace Shardul Thakur and Hardik Pandya. The Kiwis on the other hand went in with the same side that beat Afghanistan.

Daryl Mitchell scores a brilliant century for New Zealand –

32-year-old Kiwi batter Daryl Mitchell has been in good form during the ongoing ODI World Cup. On Sunday in Dharamshala, the right-handed batter tore the Indian bowling to shreds.

Daryl Mitchell was severe against the spinner as he went after Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav in particular. The left-arm wrist spinner was hit for a couple of sixes to disturb his rhythm.

The Indian fielding which was the talk of the ODI World Cup 2023 tournament was a huge letdown. Daryl Mitchell was dropped in the boundary when Jasprit Bumrah couldn’t latch on to an easy chance.

With a single in the 4th ball of the 41st over off Bumrah, the 32-year-old Mitchell reached his 5th ODI century. There was a huge glee on his face as he removed his helmet and celebrated the moment with Glenn Phillips.

Mohammad Siraj gave India the first wicket when he got rid of Devon Conway for a duck. Shreyas Iyer took an amazing catch to get rid of the dangerous Kiwi opening batter. Mohammad Shami then marked his return to the team with a wicket in his first ball to get rid of Will Young for 17.

Rachin Ravindra scored his third fifty in the ODI World Cup 2023 tournament. The youngster added 159 runs for the third wicket with Mitchell, Shami got the dangerous Ravindra out for 75 when he was caught by Gill while going for a huge hit. Kuldeep Yadav got his first wicket when he trapped Tom Latham out LBW for 5.
