How Pakistan can still qualify for ODI World Cup 2023 semi-finals after three back-to-back losses? Check out all possible scenes:

The Men in Green are all set to lock horns against South Africa on October 27 at MA Chidambaram Cricket Stadium in Chennai for their sixth game of the ODI World Cup 2023. Notably, the Pakistan team may get knocked out of the tournament if they lose the game against the in-form Proteas in their upcoming clash.

Babar Azam and Co. had a stellar start to the tournament as they beat the Netherlands in their opening game while registering a historic win against Sri Lanka in their next clash. However, the Pakistan team suffered back-to-back defeats against host India, five-time world champions Australia, as well as Afghans. Notably, Babar Azam and Co. are currently in the sixth spot and will be looking to bounce back to get their spot in the semifinals.

All possible scenes of how Pakistan can qualify for the semifinals of the ODI World Cup 2023

1. The Men in Green have to win all four of their remaining matches to make sure they fix their spot at number four. However, at the same time, they want five-time world champions Australia to lose two matches out of their four, as the Aussies are currently in the fourth spot with the best net run rate after registering a historic win over the Netherlands in their last clash.

2: Babar Azam and Co. will be expecting either India, South Africa, or New Zealand will lose all four remaining matches so that their side can get a spot in the top four spots for the ODI World Cup 2023.

3. The Pakistan team must defeat the in-form Proteas and the strong Kiwis with a high run rate to ensure their place. However, other teams winning may be able to take their place due to a higher net run rate.

4. However, as of now, Pakistan’s current competitors are Australia and Sri Lanka, which are number four and fifth in the points table, respectively. Notably, the Men in Green need to have more wins as compared to them, or their best run rate if they end up with an equal number of wins.

5. Meanwhile, the Babar Azam-led Pakistan side has to depend on the results of the rest of the nine teams to ensure their spot in the playoffs.
