‘Mai toot gaya ab’ – Fans heartbroken as Virat Kohli yet again misses record-equaling 49th ODI ton

Team India has locked horns against Sri Lanka for their seventh game of the ODI World Cup 2023 at the iconic Wankhede Cricket Stadium in Mumbai. However, India’s batting master Virat Kohli once again missed out on his century during the play. The former India skipper boosted the middle order as he went on to pile up 88 runs from 94 balls, scoring 11 boundaries in the game.

Speaking about the game here, it was Sri Lanka skipper Kusal Mendis who won the toss and invited the hosts to bat first. Notably, after being sent to bat first, the Men in Blue had an awful start as India’s skipper Rohit Sharma was dismissed for just 4 runs, where he was expected to do most of the damage at his native place as well as his IPL home ground.

However, following him, India’s batting master Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill forged an 189-run partnership, which helped them boost their middle order. Notably, India’s opening batsman, Shubman Gill, also piled up 92 runs from 92 balls, featuring 11 boundaries and two sixes that gave Team India a great start. Behind him, Shreyas Iyer was also looking tremendous but was dismissed after 82 runs.
