‘Isase jyada kar bhi kya sakte hain’ – Fans react as entire Sri Lanka Cricket Board sacked following humiliating ODI World Cup 2023 loss to India

The Sri Lanka cricket team has been knocked out of the ODI World Cup 2023 owing to their poor performances in the ongoing marquee event. However, the turning point came when the Kusal Mendis-led Sri Lankan side suffered a humiliating and embarrassing loss over Rohit Sharma-led India on November 2 at the Wankhede Cricket Stadium in Mumbai. Notably, Sri Lanka suffered three-wicket losses to Bangladesh, which knocked them out of the big tournament on November 6 in Delhi.

Meanwhile, according to reports, Sri Lanka’s sports minister, Roshan Ranasinghe, made an extreme move on Monday following his country’s heartbreaking loss to India in the ODI World Cup 2023. The minister has fired all the members of the Sri Lanka Cricket Board for their side’s awful performance in the ODI World Cup 2023, especially their 302 runs of heavy losses against the hosts.

Some sources claim that public outrage and demands for the resignation of the Shammi Silva-led SLC administration reached a peak on November 2, following a crushing 302 run loss in Mumbai. There have been multiple protests demanding the resignation of the Silva government outside the SLC grounds as a response to all of these demands.

Sri Lanka Cricket has been besieged with complaints of player disciplinary issues: Reports

Meanwhile, earlier reports said that the Sri Lanka Cricket Board demanded urgent answers and explanations from their coaches, selectors, and managers for their loss to the home team. Moreover, the SCL also raises questions about their team strategies, performances, and approach following their nasty campaign. However, the Kusal Mendis side still places themselves at the bottom of the table and faces the threat of Champions Trophy qualification in 2025.

“Sri Lanka Cricket has been besieged with complaints of player disciplinary issues, management corruption, financial misconduct and match-fixing allegations,” Ranasinghe said in the letters, released to Sri Lankan media.

“I would like to emphasise that interim measures will only be taken to establish good governance principles,” he added further.
