‘Bro takes it personal’ – Fans react as Angelo Mathews’ brother issues big warning to Shakib-Al-Hasan after “Timed Out” incident

Sri Lanka cricket team suffered a three-wicket loss against Bangladesh in their recent clash of the ODI World Cup 2023 on November 7 at Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium in Delhi. Both teams made headlines after Sri Lanka’s great all-rounder, Angelo Mathews, was given time out in the game despite the helmet failure. Following the incident, a plethora of pundits and former cricketers also raised their voices in the same incident.

However, Angelo Mathew’s brother, Trevin Mathew, also lashed out at Shakib-Al-Hasan after an incident. The former cricketer reiterates that the Bangladesh captain has no sportsmanship or humanity as a human being. Moreover, the former left-arm pacer has warned him to never come to Sri Lanka for any cricket matches, including the LPL; otherwise, he may have to face severe consequences from the fans.

“We are very disappointed. The Bangladeshi captain has no sportsman spirit and did not show humanity in the gentleman’s game. Shakib is not welcome in Sri Lanka. If he comes here to play any international or the LPL matches, stones will be thrown at him, or he will have to face the annoyance of fans,” Trevin Mathews told Deccan Chronicle.

I don’t know if it’s right or wrong: Shakib-Al-Hasan

Meanwhile, Bangladesh skipper Shakib-Al-Hasan reveals that being timed out has helped him win the game. The middle-order batsman says that it was really not his decision to call the time-out. In addition, the left-handed batsman reveals that one of his fielders came to him and asked him to do so. The great all-rounder further alleged that he doesn’t know if he did wrong or if he just followed the cricket law.

“Today that (the time out) helped, I won’t deny that. One of our fielders came to me and said that if I appealed, he (Mathews) would be out. The umpire asked me if I was serious. It’s in the laws; I don’t know if it’s right or wrong,” Shakib-Al-Hasan said.
