WATCH: Kagiso Rabada high-fived Temba Bavuma on face in the first Test against Australia

The first Test match of the most anticipated Test series between Australia and South Africa at the iconic Gabba in Brisbane ended in just two days as the Kangaroos defeated the Proteas by six wickets. Travis Head was awarded the Player of the Match award for his brilliant performance in the first innings. 

The hosts are ready to play South Africa in a Test match for the first time since the ball-tampering saga which took place in Cape Town back in 2018. The aftermath of the sandpaper incident that shook world cricket four years ago has not been discussed ever since. 

In the last innings of the Test match, Kagiso Rabada dismissed David Warner cheaply. While celebrating with his teammates, Rabada high-fived Temba Bavuma on the face instead of doing it on hands. After this incident, the video of this incident went viral on the social media.

Pat Cummins 5-fer helps Australia to victory

In the first innings, South Africa were bundled out for 152 runs. The star performer former for the batting side was their wicketkeeper Kyle Verreynne who scored 64 runs with eight fours and a six. From Australia the best bowlers were Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon with three wickets each and skipper Pat Cummins and Scott Boland with two wickets each. 

Australia scored 218 runs in their first innings. Head was the standout performer in the in the innings as he scored  92 runs. Rabada grabbed four wickets and Marco Jansen snapped three wickets.  The Proteas got dismissed cheaply in the second innings. They were able to score only 99 runs. Cummins took five wickets in this innings. For South Africa Khaya Zondo scored unbeaten 36 runs. 

Australia chasing a small target of 34 runs, lost four wickets of David Warner, Usman Khawaja, Steven Smith and Head. All the four wickets went to Rabada and half of the runs in the chase came in the form of extras. 

Heading into the next game, South Africa will look to bounce back, while Australia will look to double their lead in the three-match test series.
