Shubman Gill has been announced as the skipper of the Gujarat Titans team ahead of IPL 2024 season. The announcement came on Monday afternoon which left the fans elated. This move has come after Hardik Pandya’s trade to Mumbai Indians was confirmed late on Sunday evening.

Hardik Pandya was the inaugural skipper of Gujarat Titans since their IPL debut in 2022. In their very first year the franchise went to win the title beating Rajasthan Royals in the finals. The next year Gujarat Titans went all the way to the finals before losing to Chennai Super Kings in a dramatic encounter.

On Sunday the retention and releases were announced ahead of the IPL 2024 auctions in December. It came to light that Gujarat Titans had released Yash Dayal along with Dasun Shanaka, Alzarri Joseph, and Odean Smith.

Shubman Gill set to skipper Gujarat Titans during IPL 2024–

Shubman Gill is the skipper of the Gujarat Titans side for the IPL 2024 season. The move was confirmed on Monday after Hardik Pandya made his move to Mumbai Indians. The 30-year-old was traded back to his former side late on Sunday evening in a cash deal.

Gujarat Titans took to Twitter and posted a short video of Shubman Gill and captioned it by saying “Captain Gill” with the tagline Aava De. The franchise also posted a tweet saying “Captain Shubman Gill is ready to lead the Titans in the upcoming season with grit and exuberance. Wishing you the only best for this new innings.”

On being appointed the skipper of his side, Shubman Gill said “I am delighted and proud to assume the captaincy of Gujarat Titans and thank the franchise for their trust in me to lead such a fine team. We have had two exceptional seasons and I keenly look forward to leading the team with our exciting brand of cricket”

The year 2023 has been great for Shubman Gill in the white ball formats as he is the leading run-scorer in the ODI format. The 24-year-old also was the leading run-scorer during the IPL 2023 season and hit three centuries in the run-up to the finals against Chennai Super Kings.
