‘Ye naya Bharat hai’ – Fans react as India clinch series by winning fourth T20I against Australia by 20 runs
Much like all the games in the series so far, the fourth T20I match also ended in a similar edge-of-the-seat thriller. As it happened in the third T20I, it was India who held on their nerves and registered an emphatic win by 20 runs. With this win the Indian team have sealed the series as they lead the series 3-1. This is the 14th consecutive series win for India on home soil.
Earlier, it was Australian skipper Matthew Wade who won the toss and elected to bowl as he has done so often in this series. Indian openers started off well as both the openers Yashasvi Jaiswal (37) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (32) laid a great foundation for a huge total. But it was terrific spin bowling from Tanveer Sangha and Ben Dwarshuis who struck in the middle overs to restrict the run scoring.
But it was once again Rinku Singh (46) who steadied the ship for India along with wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma (35). It was courtesy of this partnership that India posted an average score of 174 runs in their allocated 20 overs.
Axar Patel and Ravi Bishnoi spin a web around Australian batting
In pursuit of this modest target, the Australian team had a brilliant start as they scored 40 runs in just 3 overs. The wrecker-in-chief in the partnership was Travis Head (31) who blasted Deepak Chahar for 22 runs in the third over. But the introduction of Ravi Bishnoi who brought India the first breakthrough as he dismissed Josh Philippe (8). And it was after this wicket, that the Indian bowlers never took their foot off the paddle and took wicket one after the another.
The star with the bowl for India was Axar Patel who registered a brilliant figure of 3/16 in his four overs. He was also well supported by Ravi Bishnoi who registered an exceptional bowling figure of 1/17 in his four overs. Eventually, great death bowling from Indian seamers pinned the final nail in the coffin and restricted Australia to 154 runs in their 20 overs. Let us look at how Twitter has reacted to this win;
