‘Defeated world champions with a bang’ – Fans react as West Indies beat England by 4 wickets to take series 3-2

West Indies beat defending champions England in the fifth T20I game by 4 wickets to seal the five-match T20I series by 3-2 on December 22 at Brain Lara Cricket Academy. Notably, the sides seem very strong ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024, slated to take place in May and June next year in the USA and West Indies. The two-time champions had a stellar T20 year as they defeated South Africa, India, and England in T20I series to show their strong presence ahead of the T20 World Cup in 2024.

Speaking about the game here, West Indies skipper Rovman Powell won the toss and invited England to bat first. Notably, after being sent to bat first, they were just able to post 132 before getting an all-out. However, the hosts easily chased down the target to seal the T20I series.

Meanwhile, the West Indies skipper, was extremely happy after their win over strong visiting side. The middle-order batter revealed his pragmatic skills and approach, which helped them seal the series. Notably, the series was at 2-2 earlier, with two wins from each side.

I try to lead from the front and they respect me so much: Rovman Powell

“Special thanks to the crowd of  Trinidad and Tobago. We spent some time yesterday. We had some meetings. In the last two games, the guys didn’t execute. We always knew Hope would be an important batter in this wicket. Credit goes to the groundsmen across the series. We as players are unhappy so many times. Motie was very good. Was good to mix experience with youth. I have a good bunch of guys around me. I try to lead from the front and they respect me so much,” Rovman Powell said at the post-match presentation.
