‘Is pitch par action lena chahiye’ – Fans shocked as 23 wickets fall during second Test between South Africa and India
In the ongoing New Year’s Test match between South Africa and India, a total of 23 wickets fell on the first day. After winning the toss, the home team won the toss and elected to bat first. They experienced hell at the scenic location of Cape Town. They got bowled out for 55 runs with Mohammed Siraj taking his maiden Test six-for. Apart from him, Jasprit Bumrah and Mukesh Kumar took two wickets each.
The Proteas were bowled out inside the first session. After the Lunch break, the Asian side started batting and lost the wicket of Yashasvi Jaiswal (0). At 17/1, the likes of skipper Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill put together 55 runs for the second wicket. Both batters got out before 40 and Shreyas Iyer (0) failed with the bat once again. At 110/4, the likes of former skipper Viratb Kohli and KL Rahul needed to put together a long partnership.
However, after adding 43 runs for the fifth wicket, Rahul was caught behind with 153 runs on the board. The team lost five more wickets for no more runs and the team was bowled out for 153 runs. After the first innings, the two-time World Test Championship finalists got the lead of 98 runs.
India picks three South African wickets to end Day One
After the first innings, the Proteas came out to bat for the second time in the day. The Indian bowlers, apart from a few overs, managed to pull themselves together and were disciplined. Dean Elgar, who is playing his last game, was caught behind off Mukesh Kumar. The latter took the wicket of Tony de Zorzi and Jasprit Bumrah once again took the wicket of debutant Tristan Stubbs.
At the end of Day One, the team finished 62/2 at stumps. The home team is trailed by 36 runs with seven wickets in hand. There is a high chance that the match might finish tomorrow and if that happens, India might win the game.

How ambitious someone must have been to shut the door on Ajinkya Rahane for Shreyas Iyer, who looks vulnerable in SENA countries! Hopefully, he improves with time. #INDvsSA
