‘Fully domination in red ball’ – Fans react as Australia beat West Indies by 10 wickets in 1st Test match

The Australia cricket team won the first Test match by 10 wickets against the West Indies on January 19 at Adelaide Oval Stadium and placed themselves at the top spot in the new WTC Cycle 2023-2025. Notably, Pat Cummins and Co. have recently outclassed Pakistan in the three-Test series by 3-0.

Speaking about the game, it was Australian skipper Pat Cummins who won the toss and invited visiting sides to bat first in the game. Notably, after being sent to bat first, the visiting sides could only pile up 180 runs before getting all out as star cricketer K. McKenzie was the sole batter who crossed the mark of 50, and except for him, no other batters contributed much. Meanwhile, Australia made 283 runs in the first inning and gained a massive lead.

However, the West Indies could only pile up just 120 runs in the second inning, where 26 runs was the highest score from the batter. Meanwhile, Australia chased down the total on Day 3 of the first session of the first Test match. The side will be looking to defend their WTC title in the next championship.

A feel of how it is to play against the number 1 side: Kraigg Brathwaite

Meanwhile, West Indies skipper Kraigg Brathwaite expressed disappointment after the loss. The 31-year-old cricketer said that their side failed to use the bat wisely, which cost them the game. In addition, the Barbados-born cricketer was happy to play against the top team in Test cricket. Moreover, the opening batter will be looking to win the second Test match to level up the two matches of the Test series.

“We thought the bowlers did really well. Batting-wise, we didn’t bat well, we didn’t get going in both innings. As batsmen, it was about getting a feel of Test cricket, a feel of how it is to play against the number 1 side. It’s important for them to learn and learn fast. He’s (Shamar Joseph) a guy full of energy, he has a great vision and skill. He’s done a good job,” Kraigg Brathwaite said after the win.
