‘Aree bhai yeh kya hai’ – Fans react as Cameron Green takes field in 2nd Test vs WI despite testing positive for COVID-19

The Australia cricket team has locked horns against the West Indies for the second Test match on January 25 at Gabba in Brisbane. However, there was a lot of surprise when Australia’s skipper, Pat Cummins, announced the playing XI. Notably, the star all-rounder Cameron Green has given the nod despite being tested COVID-19-positive ahead of the Test match. Head coach Andrew McDonald was also present in the game despite suffering from COVID.

Cameron Green’s presence in the Test game has caught the attention of several fans, who shared their mixed reactions after his inclusion in the starting lineup in the series. However, Cricket Australia has already revealed that the 24-year-old cricketer may get the chance in the series despite having tested positive, and his presence will not hinder their camp for the Test match.

“Cameron Green and Andrew McDonald will be separated from the group until they return a negative test. It will not hinder Green taking part in or McDonald attending the match in line with CA protocols,” Cricket Australia said in a statement, as quoted by Sydney Morning Herald.

Meanwhile, star opener Steve Smith also revealed that his side will go for an unchanged playing XI in the second Test match against the West Indies.

“He’s fine. No physical drama at all – just tested positive. However, him and Andrew McDonald are both fine,” Steve Smith said ahead of the game

Meanwhile, Australia already won the first Test by 10 wickets against the Windies, and they will be looking to win the second Test to clean sweep over them after a whitewash over Pakistan in the recently concluded three matches of the Test series.

Here are the Playing XI for the second Test game:
