‘Ek aur achha talent gaya Leagues me’ – Fans react as Peshawar Zalmi signs Shamar Joseph after his amazing debut in Test cricket
The West Indies’ emerging cricket sensation, Shamar Joseph, is gearing up for an action-packed schedule in T20 leagues following his stellar Test debut against Australia. The 24-year-old made a resounding entry into international cricket during the Test series in Australia. Joseph’s remarkable performance, including dismissing Steve Smith on his first delivery, played a pivotal role in the West Indies securing a historic Test win at Gabba after 27 years.
Now, Shamar Joseph is all set to showcase his T20 prowess in two prestigious leagues. Currently, he is representing the Dubai Capitals in the ongoing International League T20 (ILT20). The signing with the Capitals was finalized before his remarkable Test series against Australia.
However, Joseph’s journey in the T20 leagues doesn’t end with the ILT20. Pakistan Super League side Peshawar Zalmi has acquired Joseph’s services as a replacement. He will replace England’s Gus Atkinson, who is currently engaged in a Test series in India. Joseph’s inclusion in the PSL comes as part of the supplementary draft, where he joins other notable players like Sufyan Moqim, Luke Wood, and Waqar Salamkheil.
“This is my dream,” says Shamar Joseph
Despite garnering attention and interest from franchises globally, Shamar Joseph remains committed to his roots. After a remarkable 7-wicket haul in the second innings at Gabba, he expressed his unwavering dedication to Test cricket. “This is my dream—to play cricket for the West Indies,” Joseph declared, emphasising that no amount of financial allurements would sway his focus away from representing his country in Test cricket.
As Joseph embarks on his T20 league journey, his priorities are clear, and he continues to echo his commitment to don the West Indies Test cap. Peshawar Zalmi, with Joseph in their lineup, is scheduled to kick off their PSL 10 campaign against the Quetta Gladiators on February 18 in Lahore. Cricket enthusiasts eagerly anticipate witnessing the rising star’s performances in the fast-paced T20 format after his impactful debut Down Under.
Here is how fans react to Shamar Joseph:
Let him take some rest; he was injured. However, as usual, the West Indies board has a knack for undermining talent.
