‘I owe my current position to…’ – Babar Azam compliments former Pakistan captain for his achievements

In a recent live session on Twitter, Pakistan’s cricket star, Babar Azam, stated that winning the World Cup is his ultimate objective. The former skipper revealed his desire to be a member of a World Cup-winning squad, emphasising the importance of this aspiration in his cricketing career.

During an interactive session, Babar Azam was asked to compare the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the Pakistan Super League (PSL), two well-known T20 competitions. Babar said firmly that the Pakistan Super League is the superior tournament.

Reflecting on Sarfaraz Ahmed’s impact, Babar Azam thanked the former captain for his guidance throughout his early career. He recognised Sarfaraz’s encouragement and support.

“Saifee bhai really admires my bats and always says, ‘It’s my bat; pick another one for the match. He has continuously backed us, and I owe my current position to Sarfaraz Ahmed,” he stated.

Babar Azam also reflected on the most crucial event of his career, describing the enormous feeling he felt when his name was selected for the Pakistan team for the first time.

When asked to choose his best innings in Test cricket, Babar Azam mentioned his amazing 196-run effort against Australia at home. This innings was critical in helping Pakistan salvage a draw from a hazardous situation. Babar Azam’s favourite batting partner is AB de Villiers, a great South African cricketer.

“I’m not pleased with where I’m at right now – Babar Azam

Babar Azam, who currently plays for Rangpur Riders in the Bangladesh Premier League, faced difficulties during the Test series against Australia and the subsequent T20I series against New Zealand. However, he has recovered his form in the BPL, scoring 157 runs in four matches and demonstrating his batsmanship once more.

Babar Azam expressed his continuous quest for quality, stating that he is not content. “I’m not pleased with where I’m at right now, and I still have ambitions to achieve. “When I make mistakes, I talk to people and learn from them,” he told GeoSuper.

When discussing the challenges given by quality spinners in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), Babar Azam emphasised his versatility in different playing situations.
