WATCH: Jofra Archer starts playing competitive cricket, video goes viral

England pacer Jofra Archer has started playing competitive cricket after a long wait due to his persistent injury. Since February 2021, he hasn’t played enough cricket and has been struggling with his troubled elbow. For most parts of 2021 and a full year of 2022, Archer didn’t play a game. However, in late 2022, the right-arm pacer signed a contract with MI Cape Town for SA20 2023.

A few months later, the 2019 World Cup winner played a few games for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2023. However, the former Barbados player didn’t play enough and had to go back home as his injury worsened. He was part of the Three Lions’ ODI World Cup defense last year but was in the reserves. Meanwhile, in a video uploaded by the County Championship on Twitter, he was playing for Second XI Sussex

Jofra Archer is not allowed to play in IPL 2024

Meanwhile, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has decided to manage the workload of the Surrey player. This is why they have decided not to let him arrive in India for the IPL 2024.

“We take that bet with him that we want him back fit and able to play for England, because of the upside,” Key said last month. “You start looking at things like the Ashes in two years, the T20 World Cup… Jofra adds so much to that.”

“You don’t want to risk rushing something to see that kibosh the rest of his career,” Key said at the end of England’s World Cup campaign.

It will be interesting to see whether he can be available for the team’s T20 World Cup defense in June this year.
