Watch: Pakistan’s Mohammad Wasim Jr’s run-out attempt goes wrong as his throw hits on-field umpire Aleem Dar’s ankle

In the ongoing second ODI between Pakistan and New Zealand, Mohammad Wasim Jr made a run-out attempt. The incident happened in the 36th over of the Kiwi innings. However, the right-arm pacer got it horribly wrong as the ball went on to hit Aleem Dar, one of the on-field umpires in the game. The white Kookaburra hit him on the shin bone.

With this, the ongoing game was halted with Naseem Shah rubbing the injured part with the magic spray on its way. In the video, Dar was seen signaling to the players about where the stumps are standing. After being hit, the renowned umpire threw Haris Rauf’s sweater as he was wincing in pain. Some other players surrounded the elite umpire before the magic spray reached.

Meanwhile, talking about the game, the home side, Pakistan is leading the series 1-0 after winning the first ODI. In the ongoing game, the Blackcaps won the toss and elected to bat first. The visitors had lost an early wicket of Finn Allen to Naseem Shah in the first over. However, the likes of skipper Kane Williamson and Devon Conway provided a great launching pad with a partnership of 181 runs.

The latter scored a hundred while Kane got to 85. Their partnership made it feel like the two-time ODI World Cup finalists will amass a huge total. However, after the duo fell, wickets kept falling and the team was all-out on 261 in 49.5 overs.

All-rounder, Mohammad Nawaz took four wickets and broke the back of the opposition’s batting. Apart from him, Naseem Shah took three while Haris Rauf and Usama Mir took one each.

“It was turning from the start, but they were playing well. I was looking for the wickets… A little bit slow was helping. There was bounce as well. Some I tried into the pitch, like how Mitchell got out. [The chase] should be easy. The pitch is tricky, the ball is turning,” Nawaz said in the mid-innings.
