Indian Cricket Board asks Ravindra Jadeja to play atleast one domestic match before the Australia series, says Reports

Team India ended the year 2022 on a high note by defeating Bangladesh in a two-match Test series and maintaining their chances of making the World Test Championship (WTC) final. The Rohit Sharma-led team didn’t have a fantastic year overall in the longest format of the game, and now they’ll need to be at the top of their game when they take on the No. 1 team in the world, Australia, in their final match of the 2021–23 cycle.

The Indian Cricket Board selectors on Friday announced the 17-member Indian squad for the first two Tests of the ‘Border-Gavaskar Trophy’ against Australia on home soil. Mr. 360, Suryakumar Yadav, who is bursting with destructive play in T20, has been selected for the Test team.

Also, young wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan, who recently scored a double century in ODIs, also got a place in the Test team for the first time. Kishan was selected as the replacement wicketkeeper for keeper Rishabh Pant, who was involved in a car accident. Andhra player KS Bharat retained his position in the team.

Ravindra Jadeja is back in the Indian Test squad

Star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who was injured during the Asia Cup 2022 and has now recovered, has also been given a place in the Indian Test team by the All India selection committee, headed by Chetan Sharma. However, the cricket board made it clear that Jadeja will be included in the team only if he proves his fitness. It is reported that Jadeja has to play domestic cricket for this. Board sources said that the officials asked Jadeja to play at least one domestic match.

“Jadeja has been asked to play at least one domestic game. If he is indeed fit then it will solve the problem of having a left-hander in the middle order and India can play five bowlers,” a source told Times of India.

The all-rounder will come into the team if he proves his fitness. Moreover, India will have a chance to play with five bowlers. The same rule will be applied to senior pacer Jasprit Bumrah.

Team India squad:

Rohit Sharma (C), KL Rahul (VC), Shubman Gill, C Pujara, Virat Kohli, S Iyer, KS Bharat (wk), Ishan Kishan (wk), R Ashwin, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohd. Shami, Mohd. Siraj, Umesh Yadav, Jaydev Unadkat, Suryakumar Yadav
