Watch: Stephen Eskinazi plays a reverse slap off a slower ball, still gets it for a four during BBL clash
Despite losing their last match against Sydney Sixers, Perth Scorchers continue to remain at the top of the table with 8 wins in 11 matches. Sydney Sixers, though, strengthened their position at second by registering their 7th win in 11 games. Perth Scorchers did well to restrict the Sixers to 151 runs in the first innings.
However, they didn’t chase down the target as they fell 6 runs short. The likes of Bancroft and Aaron Hardie got out cheaply, while Inglis departed after scoring 11 off 13 only to leave the team in trouble at 35 for 3.
Wickets kept falling, thereafter, as well but Stephen Eskinazi made sure he kept the required run-rate under control by smashing boundaries at regular intervals. He played a stellar knock of 66 runs in 54 balls to keep the team hopes alive.
During his knock, the Scorchers opener played a shot which left the entire cricketing fraternity in splits. On the 2nd ball of the 10th over, Eskinazi attempted a pre-empted move to play the reverse lap.
Upon seeing him while delivering the ball, Hayden Kerr took the pace off and it took an eternity for the ball to make contact with the bat. However, despite that, Eskinazi waited for it and calmly paddled it over short third man for a boundary.
The video of the incident has gone viral on the internet and it has received numerous reactions from the fans.

Eskinazi remained unbeaten throughout the innings but he received little support from the other end. As for the Sydney Sixers’ bowling unit, Sean Abbott claimed three wickets while conceding only 18 runs in 4 overs.
Earlier, Sydney Sixers amassed 151 runs in the first innings, thanks to valuable contributions from the openers. Steve Smith played a handy knock of 36 off 27, while Phillipe made 52 off 48. Kurtis Patterson also played a good little cameo of 23 runs in 16 deliveries.
