WATCH: Tristan Stubbs smacks Wiaan Mulder for one of the biggest sixes ever
The SA20 2023 League finally saw a high-scoring game when the Sunrisers Eastern Cape and Durban’s Super Giants faced off in the 19th game of the competition at St George’s Park in Gqeberha. This came after several low-scoring thrillers. The batters for the Sunrisers put on a clinical performance, registering the second-highest total of the competition before eventually returning to winning ways and securing a triumph.
The Super Giants chose to bowl first after winning the toss. Opening batters Adam Rossington and Jordan Hermann put on a fantastic performance for the Sunrisers, giving them a tremendous start. As Rossington led the Sunrisers’ charge with the bat, they added 67 runs during the powerplay and went on to enjoy a spectacular 100-run partnership off only 50 deliveries.
Markram and rookie Tristan Stubbs picked up the pace swiftly, kept going where they had left off, and eventually shared an undefeated 41-run stand to help their team reach a massive 210/2 in 20 overs.
On the second ball of the 19th over, Tristan Stubbs smacked Wiaan Mulder for a massive six that went into orbit. He got the ball in the slot, just an extension of arms from him and he lofted it way over the long-on fence. He is known for big hits and he got one in the match.

Durban Super Giants lost the game by 124 runs
The Super Giants had a terrible start to the hunt as they lost their first batter, Matthew Breetzke, after just two overs. Wiaan Mulder, batting at the top of the order, was on fire when he came out to bat. He quickly collected 29 runs in 15 balls, including four fours and a six, before returning to the pavilion in the final over of the powerplay.
Roelof van der Merwe struck twice in the seventh over, taking out Heinrich Klaasen and Quinton de Kock in quick succession, putting Durban’s Super Giants’ batting order in serious jeopardy. Just as Kyle Mayers and Jason Holder were trying to build a partnership in the innings, Van der Merwe struck twice in the ninth over to send both players from the Caribbean home.
The Super Giants only managed to score 86 runs before falling to Jon Jon Smuts’ final wicket. The Aiden Markram-led team returned to winning ways and moved up two spots to the second spot on the points table because of his devastating bowling performance, which enabled the Sunrisers to secure a commanding 124-run victory.
