‘Lagta hai isne bhi chadha li’ – Fans troll Najam Sethi for ‘PSL is better than Indian T20 League’ remark

According to media sources, the Pakistan Super League (PSL) has exceeded the Indian T20 League (ITL) in digital rating, revealed Najam Sethi, the head of the Pakistan Cricket Board‘s interim management committee. He conveyed his appreciation for the event’s success to the attendees and Punjab and Sindh’s federal and provincial governments. He said that the PSL’s digital rating this season was 150, compared to the ITL’s 130 from the previous season. Sethi further emphasised how the PSL has enhanced and positively benefited the nation’s economic status.

The 74-year-old added that the PCB is in discussions with the appropriate authorities in Karachi and Lahore to build five-star hotels for the players near the stadiums for the convenience of the public. “We have proposals to hold some matches of the league in the United States, and if we get a chance, we will explore that option,” he said.

‘The PCB would not be involved in any activities against religion’ – Najam Sethi

However, three betting companies sponsoring clubs in the PSL raise a problem. Before he was appointed head of the PCB, Sethi clarified that the agreements would be examined as they happened.

“PSL has contributed in keeping the country’s economic wheel moving as it created job opportunities and helped tourism, hotel industry, airlines, and road travelling business grow,” Sethi said before disclosing the taxes paid to the government. “We have paid Rs 70 crores in taxes to the federal government, Rs 50 crores in sales taxes, and another Rs 50 crores in provincial taxes,” sources reported.

“The PCB would not be involved in any activities against the religion, culture, and tradition of the land,” he added.

Sethi’s assertion represents a big victory for the PSL, which has grown in popularity since its 2015 debut. Young and future Pakistani athletes now have a stage to compete alongside established international athletes. The PSL has also been essential in reestablishing international cricket in Pakistan after years of exile brought on by security issues. It has improved Pakistan’s reputation internationally and resurrected cricket in that nation.

However, fans were ready to believe in the reports as they quickly trolled the league and the PCB chief over their claims. Here’s how fans reacted:
