‘Yaar meri in logo se Phatt rahi hai abb’- Fans drop crazy tweets as West Indies notched their highest ever total in T20Is
West Indies notched their highest-ever total in the history of T20 cricket in the second T20 international against South Africa on Sunday at SuperSport Park. The Men from the Carribean notched a massive total of 258 runs in the first innings, thanks to a breathtaking knock from Johnson Charles.
Notably, this is also the highest-ever total posted at Super Sport Park ground. The opener, Brandon King got out in the first over of the innings. However, South Africa couldn’t pick a single wicket, thereafter, for the next 10 overs.
Kyle Mayers and Johnson Charles hammered the South African bowlers to all parts of the ground. The duo stitched a 135-run partnership for the second wicket before Mayers departed in the 11th over.
The West Indies openers played a handy knock of 51 runs in just 27 balls, including 5 fours and 5 sixes. However, it was Johnson Charles, who stole the show with the bat. She shifted to the fifth gear after the powerplay and wreaked havoc with the bat.
Charles notched a ton in just 39 balls, thereby, hitting the fastest-ever ton scored by a West Indies cricketer. Charles didn’t spare any bowler as he tore apart the South African bowling attack.
He played an outstanding knock of 118 runs in just 46 balls at a strike rate of 256. His knock was laced with 10 fours and 11 sixes. After Mayer’s dismissal, Pooran also went back quickly but Rovman Powell gave Charles good support by playing a good knock of 28 off 19 balls.
Later on, Romario Shepherd exhibited his batting masterclass as he smashed his way to 41 off 18 balls. Thanks to all those contributions, West Indies notched a massive score of 258 runs in the first innings. For South Africa, Sisanda Magala, who is also Chennai’s latest recruit, conceded 67 runs without losing any wicket.
The fans on Twitter have been all praise for the West Indies team and also trolled Meghala for her poor bowling figures. Here’s a look at some of the reactions:
