For the Lucknow franchise, Marcus Stoinis gearing up for the Indian T20 League in 2023. He was last in action in the recently-concluded three-match ODI series for Australia against India. He touched down with the franchise on March 29. In the 2022 season, he was instrumental for Lucknow in the Eliminator against Bangalore but unfortunately ended on the losing side. 

Stoinis, in a viral video, wished “Happy Ram Navami” along with the slogan “Jai Sree Ram” before the match. The video has making rounds on social media platforms ever since. The Hindu festival Ram Navami was celebrated on March 30 in India.

How has Stoinis fared in Indian T20 League?

The Australian allrounder achieved 156 runs in 11 games during the previous edition of the competition while only taking four wickets. His strike rate was 147.17 and his average was only 19.50. Stoinis most recently played for Australia, which defeated India 2-1 in bilateral ODI series. 

The standout Australian all-rounder made 30 runs and claimed three wickets in that series. Gautam Gambhir, the franchise’s mentor, claimed that his participation may provide any squad with a solid balance after bringing him to the squad in 2022. He asserted that Stoinis can perform the finisher’s role flawlessly. 

In their first season among the big boys last year, KL  Rahul’s Lucknow team made the playoffs. In the upcoming season, Lucknow will be expecting to go one step further and win their first Indian T20 League championship. They handled their business last term very well, assembling a solid combination of young talent and prior experience. 

The Lucknow-based club made a massive Rs 16 crore bid for Nicholas Pooran before the Indian T20 League 2023 auction to give their top order more bite. They have also included people like Amit Mishra, Jaydev Unadkat, Daniel Sams, and Romario Shepherd, among others.
